Back in September, if you saw my last post, I was asking my friends, family, and really anyone who wanted, to support my precious girls in Zambia. Out of my 13 girls, 5 were sponsored and are starting school this month! I makes my heart feel so full just imagining how they feel about this change in their lives. They will now have a safe place to go if they are scared or feel threatened. They will now learn how to read, so they can open a bible and read God's promises to them, while also learning how to evangelize to their community. They will get to eat at least two meals a day- which for some is two more meals than they are used to eating. They will also have access to medical care, which for my sweet Anna, who my dad sponsored, is wonderful, as she struggles with those terrible headaches. Doug and I sponsored Doris and Anita, and plan on writing to both of them soon. I can't wait to hear from those two girls!
Speaking of Doug, I don't know if I ever posted about him specifically in this blog, but he is now my husband! I was so consumed with getting as much as possible about my girls out into the world, that I never took the time to share that huge piece of joy in my life. We have a blog that goes into much detail about our relationship- the beginning, the proposal, and a wealth of pictures {www.stephndougnlove.com}. He proposed right before I left for Zambia, and all the way until our wedding day, December 11th, my life has been so insanely busy. Over the course of those 5 months, I invested myself in marriage counseling, working two jobs, planning our "simple, no-fuss" wedding, while also joining an amazing church plant in Atascocita. So much going on, so much stress undertaken, and well . . . let's just say I am incredibly relieved that January is here. By the way, that whole "simple, no-fuss" wedding holds much sarcasm within those quotation marks. I don't think that exists, to be honest. But I will say, our wedding day was perfect.
There's much that I want to talk more about, but if you are friends with me on facebook, you may have noticed that one of my resolutions was to write more, and if I explain everything now, well . . . that would kinda ruin my plan. For now, I will leave you with more information on this church plant Doug and I are involved in, as our very first bible study will occur this Sunday (January 8th)! We would love for you to come if you can!
